December 14: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata were at 40,760 tons in November 2015 against 37,798 tons in October, showing an increase of 7.84%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to a higher 65,143 tons in November 2014 while for fiscal 2014-15, the volumes stood at 615,010 tons.
With the November figures, total imports of the material in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 398,755 tons against 369,474 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal, rising 7.92% year-on-year.

November 2015 saw almost the entire volume arriving from Australia in a band of Rs 4,674 – Rs 4,797 ($70-73) per ton.
In October 2015, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a band of Rs 4,856 – Rs 7,905 ($74-119) per ton.
