Nov coking coal imports via Vizag up 85% m-o-m

December 11: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag increased 84.69% to 424,193 tons in November 2014 against 229,678 tons reported in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In November 2013, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood at 487,070 tons.
With this, in the first eight months of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 3,180,475 tons against a volume of 4,140,328 tons imported during the same period in 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In November, imports included 388,443 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 6,516 – Rs 8,297 ($105-133) per ton while the balance 35,750 tons came from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,623 ($122) per ton.
In October, imports included 178,275 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 7,410 – Rs 8,651 ($119-139) per ton, 48,471 tons from the US in a band of Rs 8,183 – Rs 8,358 ($133-135) per ton and 2,932 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 6,311 ($102).
