Nov steam coal imports via Gangavaram up 8% m-o-m

December 9: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram Port stood at 689,673 tons in November 2014, up almost 8.02% from 638,453 tons reported in October 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.  

During November 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 143,464 tons.

During the first eight months (April-November) of the current financial year of 2014-15, total steam coal imported through the port stood at 5,075,411 tons while the figure was at 3,754,110 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.

Following are the details of imports in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In November 2014, out of the entire quantity, 27,947 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,514-Rs 4,840 ($73-$78) per ton whereas the balance 661,726 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,046-Rs 5,656 ($65-$90) per ton.

However, during October 2014, 178,616 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,337-Rs 5,216 ($70-$84) per ton, 189,688 tons from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,930-Rs 4,279 ($64-$69) per ton, 4,335 tons from Mozambique at a price of Rs 4,607 ($74) per ton while the balance 265,814 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,863-Rs 5,321 ($62-$85) per ton.
