Nov steam coal imports via Mundra dip 2% m-o-m

December 31: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra fell 1.79% to 2,035,478 tons in November 2014 from 2,072,527 tons reported in October 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In November 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 1,347,202 tons.
Total imports of non-coking coal through Mundra Port during the first eight months of 2014-15 stood at 16,374,110 tons against 13,322,618 tons reported during the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via Mundra Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During November 2014, 1,869,271 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,820-Rs 5,909 ($46-$95), 77,000 tons from South Africa at Rs 4,741 ($76) per ton while the balance 89,207 tons came in from US at Rs 6,253-Rs 6,347 ($101) per ton.
On the other hand, in October 2014, 2,002,501 tons arrived from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,123-Rs 4,868 ($50-$78) per ton, 26 tons came from Ukraine at a price of Rs 3,867 ($63) per ton and the balance 70,000 tons came in from the US at a price range of Rs 6,238-Rs 6,352 ($100-$102) per ton.
