December 20: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip in November dropped 7.48% to 418,980 tons against 452,887 in October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports through the port during the first eight months of FY’14 stood at 4,284,695 tons against 5,459,347 tons reported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In November, 376,831 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2616 - Rs 35,224 ($41-$558) per ton, while 42149 arrived from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 4,589 ($73).
In October, 182,659 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,569 – Rs 6,027 ($41-$97) per ton and the balance 1,981 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,669 ($105).
