December 10: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag dropped slightly by 7.09% to 247,601 tons in November 2013 against 266,499 tons reported in October 2013, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first eight months of 2013-14 stood at 2,042,366 tons, against 3,296,638 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag port during 2012-13 and 2013-14:

Note: The April 2012 numbers are combined import figures of Vizag and Gangavaram ports whereas the rest are standalone from Vizag.
In November, 2013, all the consignments arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,879 – Rs 5,172 ($83-$46) per ton.
In October 2013 too, the entire volume arrived from Indonesia but in a price band of Rs 2,594 – Rs 3,459 ($41-$55) per ton.
