Oct coking coal imports via Kolkata drop 28% m-o-m

November 26: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port dropped 27.70% to 259,985 tons in October 2014 against a volume of 359,609 tons in September, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In October 2013, coking coal imports were at 424,945 tons.
Coking coal imports for the first seven months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 2,349,728 tons against 3,057,866 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In October 2014, imports comprised 200,532 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6,380 – Rs 8,729 ($103-141) per ton, while the balance 59,453 arrived from New Zealand in a band of Rs 6,052- Rs 7,733 ($97-124) per ton.
In September, imports comprised 319,609 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 6,377 – Rs 8,301 ($103-134) per ton, while 20,000 tons each arrived from Canada at a unit price of Rs 8,104 ($133) and New Zealand at Rs 7,665 ($124)/ton.
