Oct coking coal imports via Mormugao up 8% m-o-m

November 20: Coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao rose almost 8.22% to 418,224 tons in October 2014, against a quantum of 386,446 tons reported in September, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In October 2013, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at 701,308 tons.
In the first seven months (April-October) of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 2,648,173 tons as against 1,498,670 tons recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In October 2014, 346,174 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,969-Rs 9,168 ($128-$148) per ton whereas the balance 72,050 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,782 ($125) per ton.
However, during September 2014, 304,075 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,949-Rs 8,338 ($98-$137) per ton while the balance 82,371 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 7,512 ($123) per ton.
