Oct steam coal imports via Kandla up 17.34% m-o-m

November 25: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 860,407 tons in October 2014, up 17.34% from 733,266 tons imported in September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Imports of steam coal through the port during October 2013 stood at 625,562 tons. 

Imports of steam coal through the port during the first seven months (April-October) of FY’15 stood at 4,623,960 tons while the same stood at 4,410,050 tons during the same period last year.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port in 2014-15 and 2014-13:

In October 2014, 92,499 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,589-Rs 5,450 ($74-$88) per ton, 30,221 tons came from Canada at a price range of Rs 6,291-Rs 6,316 ($101) per ton, 351,270 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,111-Rs 4,604 ($34-$74) per ton, 309,540 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,774-Rs 6,084 ($77-$98) per ton whereas the rest of 76,877 tons came from USA at a price range of Rs 6,347-Rs 6,608 ($102-$106) per ton.

However, during September 2014, 537,653 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,016-Rs 4,827 ($33-$79) per ton while the balance 195,613 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,138-Rs 5,961 ($84-$98) per ton.
