Oct steam coal imports via Kolkata up 34% m-o-m

November 26: Steam coal import levels through the port of Kolkata rose 34.02% to 117,519 tons in October 2014 against 87,685 tons in September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In October 2013, imports had plunged to 13,802 tons compared to October 2014.
Steam coal imports through the port in the first seven months of the current fiscal were at 249,004 tons against a volume of 1,583,823 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material for the entire financial year of 2013-14 were at 1,735,675 tons.

In October, 65,900 tons arrived from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,177 – Rs 5,690 ($67-92) per ton, 46,619 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 2,998 – Rs 4,987 ($48-80) per ton, while the balance 5,000 tons came in from the US at a unit price of Rs 6,518 ($105).
In September, imports comprised 57,000 tons from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,238 – Rs 5,686 ($89-92) per ton while the balance 30,685 tons came in from Australia in a band of Rs 3,997 – Rs 4,422 ($ 66-72) per ton.
