Oct steam coal imports via Vizag almost double to 266,499 tons

November 25: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag almost doubled to 266,499 tons in October 2013 against 133,362 tons recorded in September 2013, showing a rise of by 99.83% as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first seven months of 2013-14 stood at 1,794,765 tons, against 2,752,797 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag port during 2012-13 and 2013-14:

Note: The April 2012 numbers are combined import figures of Vizag and Gangavaram ports whereas the rest are standalone from Vizag.
In October 2013, the entire volumes arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2594 – Rs 3459 ($41-$55) per ton
In September 2013 too, the entire consignment had arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,875 – Rs 3,073 ($43-49) per ton.
