09 Jul 2014
The Odisha state government moved the Centre to grant forest clearance to Manoharpur coal block and grant its mining lease to Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) for the phase-II expansion of its 1,320 MW project.
Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das also demanded interim coal linkage from Basundhara Coal Mines to OPGC, during his meeting Union minister of state for power and coal Piyush Goyal in New Delhi on Monday.
He also wanted that the state be given 25% free power from coal-based power plants, 33% free power from power plants based on coal washery rejects and 25% cess on the power sold to outside states in view of the state's target to generate about 50,000 MW power from its huge coal resources.
