PCI coal imports via Kolkata down 43.86% in Jan m-o-m

February 12: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata dropped 43.86% to 31,481 tons in January 2014 against 56,085 tons reported in December 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total PCI imports via Kolkata Port stood at 304,671 tons in the first 10 months
of 2013-14 compared to 314,055 tons imported in the same period last year, showing a drop of 2.98% in the 10-month period of the current fiscal over the same period in the previous fiscal.
PCI coal imports in January 2013 stood at 98,931 tons.
Total PCI coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 370,125 tons.

In January 2014, PCI coal imports comprised 26,966 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 8,771 - Rs 8,783 ($141) per ton, 4,500 tons from South Africa in a price band of 6,865 - Rs 7,072 ($110-$113) per ton while 15 tons came in from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 15,255 ($245).
In December, 44,577 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,582 - Rs 8,779 ($122-$141) per ton while 11,508 tons came in from South Africa in a band Rs 6,859 - Rs 7,051 ($110-$113) per ton.
