PCI coal imports via Kolkata drop 43.45% in May m-o-m

June 6: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata dropped 43.45% to 32,136 tons in May 2014 against a volume of 56,828 tons reported in April, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to 39,037 tons in May 2013 while, for the first two months of the current fiscal the volumes stood at 88,964 tons.
Total PCI imports via Kolkata Port stood at 397,790 tons for the entire fiscal of 2013-14.

In May, imports comprised 26,386 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 7,240 - Rs 8,783 ($120-146) per ton and the balance 5,750 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 6,763 - Rs 7,098 ($113-117) per ton.
In April, 48,778 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,029 - Rs 7,321 ($116-120) per ton while the balance 8,050 tons arrived from South Africa in a range of Rs 6,792 - Rs 7,102 ($112-117) per ton.
