PCI coal imports via Kolkata increase 13.45% in Dec m-o-m

January 9: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata rose by 13.45% to 56,085 tons in December 2013 against 49,434 tons reported in the previous month of the fiscal, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total PCI imports via Kolkata port stood at 273,190 tons in the first nine months of 2013-14 compared to 215,124 tons imported in the same period last year, showing a rise of 27% for the nine-month period.
PCI coal imports in December 2012 stood at 9,908 tons, a huge drop over the figure in December of the current fiscal.
Total PCI coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 370,125 tons.

In December, 44,577 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,582 - Rs 8,779 ($122-$141) per ton while 11,508 tons came in from South Africa in a band Rs 6,859 - Rs 7,051 ($110-$113) per ton.
In November, 2013, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,863 - Rs 8,834 ($126-$140) per ton.
