September 21: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata more than doubled to 39,185 tons in August 2013 against 8,806 tons recorded in July 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
Total PCI coal imported via Kolkata port in the first five months of 2013-14 were at 111,980 tons against 136,759 tons registered in the corresponding period in 2012-13.
PCI coal imports in August 2012 stood at 61,527 tons.
Total PCI coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 370,125 tons.

In August 2013, the entire consignment arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7871 – Rs 8,714 ($120-$141) per ton.
In July 2013, too, the entire consignment arrived from Australia at a unit price of Rs 8,128 ($134).
