PCI coal imports via Kolkata plunge 61% in July m-o-m

August 4: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata dropped by 60.96% to 25,017 tons in July 2014 against a volume of 64,081 tons reported in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to 8,806 tons in July 2013 while, for the first four months of the current fiscal, the volumes stood at 178,062 tons against 72,795 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total PCI imports via Kolkata Port stood at 397,790 tons for the entire fiscal of 2013-14.

In July, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,011 – Rs 7,645 ($116-126) per ton.
In June, imports comprised 64,062 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,649 – Rs 7,438 ($111-123) per ton and 19 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 1,470 ($24).
