PCI coal imports via Kolkata shoot up 104% m-o-m in Nov

December 12: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata rose by a huge 103.84% to 49,434 tons in November 2013 against 24,251 tons registered in October 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total PCI imports via Kolkata port stood at 217,105 tons in the first eight months of 2013-14 compared to 205,216 tons imported in the same period last year.
PCI coal imports in November 2012 stood at 8,784 tons, a huge drop over the figure in November of the current fiscal.
Total PCI coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 370,125 tons.

In November, 2013, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,863-Rs 8,834 ($126-$140) per ton.
In October 2013 too, the entire volume of PCI coal imports arrived from Australia but at a unit price of Rs 8,200 ($131.08).
