PCI coal imports via Kolkata spurt 132% in Aug m-o-m

September 25: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata spurted almost 132% to 57,979 tons in August 2014 against a volume of 25,017 tons reported in July, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to 39,185 tons in August 2013 while, for the first five months of the current fiscal, the volumes stood at 236,041 tons against 111,980 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total PCI imports via Kolkata Port stood at 397,790 tons for the entire fiscal of 2013-14.

In August, imports comprised 50,179 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 6,389 – Rs 7,867 ($105-128) per ton, while the balance 7,800 tons arrived from South Africa in a range of Rs 6,559 – Rs 6,995 ($106-114) per ton.
In July, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,011 – Rs 7,645 ($116-126) per ton.
