PCI coal imports via Kolkata spurt 99.40% in June m-o-m

July 11: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata spurted by 99.40% to 64,081 tons in June 2014 against a volume of 32,136 tons reported in May, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to 22,952 tons in June 2013 while, for the first three months of the current fiscal, the volumes stood at 153,045 tons against 63,989 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total PCI imports via Kolkata Port stood at 397,790 tons for the entire fiscal of 2013-14.

In June, imports comprised 64,062 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,649 – Rs 7,438 ($111-123) per ton and 19 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 1,470 ($24).
In May, imports comprised 26,386 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 7,240 – Rs 8,783 ($120-146) per ton and the balance 5,750 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 6,763 – Rs 7,098 ($113-117) per ton.
