PCI coal imports via Kolkata up 51.93% in Feb m-o-m

March 7: PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata rose 51.93% to 47,830 tons in February 2014 against 31,481 tons reported in January 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, total PCI imports via Kolkata Port stood at 352,501 tons in the first 11 months of 2013-14 compared to 353,353 tons imported in the same period last year.
PCI coal imports in February 2013 stood at 39,298 tons.
Total PCI coal imports in the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 370,125 tons.

In February 2014, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,479 – Rs 8,874 ($119-$141) per ton.
In January 2014, however, PCI coal imports comprised 26,966 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 8,771- Rs 8,783 ($141) per ton, 4,500 tons from South Africa in a price band of 6,865 – Rs 7,072 ($110-$113) per ton while 15 tons came in from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 15,255 ($245).
