PCI coal imports via Vizag decline 76% in February m-o-m

March 12: Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI) coal imports through the port of Vizag dropped by 76% to 25,259 tons in February against 104,169 tons reported in January 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of PCI coal in the first 11 months of 2013-14 stood at 477,858 tons against 560,537 tons notched up during the corresponding period in 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of PCI coal imports via Vizag Port in 2012-13 and through 2013-14:

In February 2014, only one consignment of PCI coal arrived, from Australia, at a unit price of Rs 7,699 ($122).
In January 2014, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,942 – Rs 8,792 ($128-$141) per ton.
