PCI coal imports via Vizag plunge 79% in Dec m-o-m

January 7: Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI) coal imports through the port of Vizag plunged 79% to 5,444 tons in December 2013 against 26,000 tons reported in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of PCI coal in the first nine months of 2013-14 stood at 348,430 tons against 481,913 tons notched up during the corresponding period in 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of PCI coal imports via Vizag port in 2012-13 and through 2013-14:

In December, imports comprised 2,144 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 8,834 ($140) and 3,300 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,777 ($107).
In November, however, the entire consignment arrived from Australia at a unit price of Rs 8,681 ($138).
