PCI coal imports via Vizag spurt 105% in March m-o-m

April 11: Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI) imports through the port of Vizag spurted by almost 105% to 51,711 tons in March 2014 against a quantum of 25,259 tons reported in February, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of PCI coal in the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 529,569 tons against 584,524 tons notched up during the corresponding period in 2012-13. Thus, PCI imports showed a drop of 9.4% in 2013-14 over 2012-13.

PCI coal imports for March comprised consignments from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,699- Rs 7,918 ($122-$128) per ton.
In February 2014, only one consignment of PCI coal arrived, from Australia, at a unit price of Rs 7,699 ($122).
