PCI coal imports via Vizag surge ahead in January m-o-m

February 25: Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI) coal imports through the port of Vizag spurted manifold to 104,169 tons in January 2014 against 5,444 tons recorded in December 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of PCI coal in the first 10 months of 2013-14 stood at 452,599 tons against 554,099 tons notched up during the corresponding period in 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of PCI coal imports via Vizag Port in 2012-13 and through 2013-14:

In January 2014, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 7,942 – Rs 8,792 ($128-$141) per ton.
In December, imports comprised 2,144 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 8,834 ($140) and 3,300 tons came in from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,777 ($107).
