PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata were at 92,526 tons in March 2016 against 93,187 tons in February 2016, showing a month-on-month marginal increase of 0.71%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Total imports of the material in fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 756,051 tons against 615,010 tons seen in the previous fiscal, rising 22.93% year-on-year.
Imports of the material amounted to 61,006 tons in March 2015.

March 2016 saw the entire volume arriving from Australia in a band of Rs 4,783 – Rs 5,494 ($71-81) per ton.
In February 2016, a volume of 91,537 tons arrived from Australia in a band of Rs 4,621 – Rs 5,884 ($71-86) per ton and the balance 1,650 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,490 – Rs 4,494 ($66) per ton.
