PCI imports via Vizag Port up 59% in August m-o-m

September 11: Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI) imports through the port of Vizag rose 59.19% to 95,866 tons in August 2014 against a quantum of 60,219 tons reported in July, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In August 2013, PCI coal imports through Vizag Port stood lower at 69,454 tons.
On a cumulative basis, imports of the material for the first five months of the current fiscal stood at 268,739 tons while the same for the previous fiscal was at 270,793 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of PCI coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and through 2014-15:

In August, 83,766 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 6,245 ($103) while the balance 12,100 tons came in from South Africa in a band of Rs 6,253 –Rs 6,553 ($101-106) per ton.
In July, all the three consignments arrived from Australia in a band of Rs 6,586 – Rs 6,674 ($109-110) per ton.
