PCI imports via Vizag drop sharp 66% in Feb m-o-m

PCI coal imports through Vizag Port in February 2016 were at a mere 7,754 tons while in January 2016 these were at 22,780, showing a sharp drop of 65.96% month-on-month, as per provisional data available with ICMW.

In February 2015, however, volumes were at a hefty 100,780 tons.

Thus, total PCI imports of the commodity for the first 11 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 435,965 tons while the volume for the same period of the previous fiscal stood at 526,638 tons, showing almost flat growth at 17.22% in this period year-on-year.

On a cumulative basis, imports of the material for fiscal 2014-15 stood at 646,679 tons.

Following is the monthly break-up of PCI coal imports via Vizag Port in 2015-16 and through 2014-15:

In February 2016, a single consignment arrived from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,749 ($69).

January 2016 imports comprised a single consignment from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,887 ($72) and a single consignment from Canada at a unit price of Rs 4,749 ($70).
