PESB interviews for CIL CMD post on Nov 18

November 13: Coal India Ltd (CIL) is set to get a new chairman-cum-managing director, a position lying vacant since the resignation of S Narsing Rao in June, within (November), feel official sources.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) will interview 10-12 candidates who had applied for the job, on November 18, an official told ICMW.

“The interview is slated for November 18. Three candidates from within CIL as well as others will be interviewed on that day,” an official said.

If everything goes well, PESB will recommend a candidate within the next two-three days of the interview, the official said, adding, in recent days, PESB has been quite aggressive and has been announcing its recommendations for a post within 2-3 days of holding the interviews.

Along with current Director (Technical) N Kumar and Director (Personnel) R Mohandas of CIL and Gopal Singh, the current Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), a subsidiary of CIL, there are 10-12 candidates in total, including a few officials from the Indian Administrative Services (IAS).

A candidate from a private sector company too is believed to have applied for the job along with some officials from Neyveli Lignite Ltd (NLC), according to reports.
