Paradip Jan coking coal imports spurt 189% m-o-m

February 11: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip spurted by more than 189% to 1,276,859 tons in January 2015 against a volume of 441,277 tons reported in December 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in January 2014 stood at 453,321 tons.
Total imports of coking coal via the port during the first 10 months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 7,937,025 tons from 5,053,078 tons imported through the port during the same period in 2013-14.
Total coking coal imports for the last fiscal of 2013-14 stood at 5,954,933 tons.

In January, all consignments were imported from Australia in a range of Rs 4,983 – Rs 34,856 ($78-559) per ton.
In December, however, 409,976 tons were imported from Australia in a range of Rs 6,829 – Rs 8,537 ($109-134) per ton and the balance 31,301 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,505 ($120).
