Paradip January steam coal imports up 12% m-o-m

February 11: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip went up 11.51% to 837,021 tons in January 2015 against a volume of 750,621 tons in December 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in January 2014 stood higher at 489,348 tons.
In the first 10 months of the current financial year (2014-15), steam coal imports through the port stood at 7,595,169 tons against 5,599,031 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Total steam coal imports in 2013-14 were at 6,907,374 tons

In January, however, imports consisted of 737,518 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 2,415 – Rs 4,018 ($39-63) per ton, 19,500 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 2,089 – Rs 3,164 ($33-50) per ton and 80,004 from Australia in a band of Rs 3,093 – Rs 3,125 ($48-49) per ton.
In December, however, imports consisted of 546,616 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 2,515 – Rs 8,993 ($39-144) per ton and 149,051 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 1,465 – Rs 5,369 ($23-86) per ton.
