Paradip October coking coal imports down 33% m-o-m

November 7: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip dropped 32.69% to 428,268 tons in October 2014 against a volume of 636,305 tons reported in September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports through the port were hit because of the onslaught of Cyclone Hudhud last month.
Imports of coking coal in October 2013 stood at 487,630 tons.
Total imports of coking coal via the port during the first seven months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 5,717,206 tons from 3,190,611 tons imported through the port during the same period in 2013-14.
Total coking coal imports for the last fiscal of 2013-14 stood at 5,954,933 tons.

In October, 328,645 tons were imported from Australia in a range of Rs 3,010 – Rs 8,056 ($48-129) per ton, 62,343 tons came in from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 2,575 ($41), 24,315 tons from New Zealand in a band of Rs 7,961 – Rs 8,126 ($128-131) and 12,965 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,583 ($122).
In September, imports included 520,875 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6,383 – Rs 23,152 ($104-378) per ton, 49,490 tons from Canada at a unit price of Rs 8,063 ($132), 46,511 tons from the US in a band of Rs 8,428 – Rs 8,545 ($138-140) per ton and the balance 19,428 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 7,795 ($128).
