A volume of 6,586 tons of met coke was imported through Paradip Port in March 2016 against 32,926 tons recorded in February 2016, showing a sharp drop of 79.99% month-on-month, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With the addition of the March figures, total volumes of met coke imports in fiscal 2015-16 were at 520,545 tons against 711,612 tons recorded in the previous fiscal (2014-15), declining 26.85% year-on-year.
In March 2015, imports of met coke via the port were at 95,120 tons.

March 2016, saw 6,548 tons arriving from China at a price range of Rs 7,590 – Rs 13,648 ($140-198) per ton and the balance 38 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 15,352 ($223) per ton.
In February 2016, the entire material arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 6,808 ($99).
