A volume of 34,632 tons of met coke was imported through Paradip Port in January 2016 against 51,617 tons recorded in December 2015, showing a drop of 32.91% month-on-month, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
In January 2015, imports of met coke via the port were at 12,286 tons.
Total volumes of met coke imports in the first 10 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 481,033 tons against 580,194 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), declining 17.09% year-on-year.
Total met coke imports through the port during the previous financial year of 2014-15 were at 711,612 tons.

January 2016 saw 13,632 tons arriving from China at a price range of Rs 8,518 – Rs 11,235 ($127-167) per ton and the balance 21,000 tons from Colombia at a unit price of Rs 12,080 ($180) per ton.
December 2015 saw all the consignments arriving from China at a price band of Rs 8,845 - Rs 10,550 ($133-157) per ton.
