Paradip Port achieves record thermal coal handling

May 5: The mechanised coal handling plant (MCHP) at Paradip Port, on May 3, achieved record coal handling, said an official statement.

“A quantity of 41,000 tons of thermal coal was loaded in a shift of 8 hours surpassing the previous record in a shift of 40,751 tons loaded on October 21, 2006 while the total thermal coal loading for the day stood at 1,07,268 tons, up from 1,00,127 tons recorded on January 31, 2015,” the statement said.

With this, the plant has achieved a loading rate of 3,170 tons per hour (TPH) against the loading rate of 3,000 TPH sought by the vessel authorities, the statement added.
