Paradip Port handled record 7 mt of cargo in Feb

Paradip Port achieved record cargo handling volumes of 7.09 million tons (mt) in a single month in February 2016 surpassing the previous highest level of 6.50 million tons (mt) handled in a month during January 2016, a senior port official informed ICMW.
As per the port source, out of the total cargo handled in February 2016, 3.82 mt or 53.88% comprised coal.
Moreover, coal handling via this port in February 2016 was 6.84% higher than 3.58 mt handled in January 2016 on a month-on-month (m-o-m) basis and up 62.19% compared to 2.36 mt coal handled in February 2015 on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis.
Paradip Port sources said that for the first time the port crossed 7 mt in February 2016, achieving a growth of approximately 26% over the corresponding month last year.
According to port source, during the first 11 months (April to February) of 2015-16, Paradip Port handled 68.77 mt of cargo, up 6.58% as compared to 64.52 mt handled during the corresponding period of the previous year.
