Paradip Port loads thermal coal in record time

The east coast port of Paradip has done loading of thermal coal in a Panamax vessel at record time, a senior port official told ICMW.
As per the official, recently, the mechanised coal handling plant at Paradip Port has loaded 84,656 tons of thermal coal at a record time of 20 hours in a panamax vessel named MV Paola Bottiglieri.
This performance has enabled the port to set an all-time best gross productivity rate of 4,233 ton per hour (TPH) and net productivity rate of 5,084 TPH.
According to port sources, this performance is at par with the international coal loading ports of Australia and South Africa.
This panamax vessel has been chartered by Bothra Shipping Services on account of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGENCO) for coastal shipment of thermal coal to its plant located at Vijayawada.
