Paradip Port’s August cargo handling up 3% y-o-y

September 4: Cargo handling by Paradip Port during August 2014 increased 3.38% to 6.11 million tons (mt) against a volume of 5.91 mt handled in the same month in 2013, a senior official from the port told ICMW.
On a month-on month basis, cargo handling at the port increased slightly from 6.01 mt in July 2014.
Total cargo handling by the port during the month pulled up mainly because of higher coal handling during the month.
On a cumulative basis, the port’s total cargo handling for April-August, 2014 stood at 29.47 mt, slightly up from a volume of 29.04 mt cargo handled in the same period of 2013-14.
Of the total cargo handled by the port, coal handling during August 2014 stood at 3.24 mt, up from 2.78 mt in August 2013 and 2.88 mt in July 2014.
On a cumulative basis, the port’s coal handling during April-July, 2014 increased nearly 6% to 14.64 mt against a volume of 13.88 mt in the same period of 2013-14, the official said.
