Import volumes of coking coal through the port of Paradip moved up a moderate 33.74% to 569,870 tons in December 2015 against 426,109 tons reported in the preceding month of November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in December 2014 stood slightly lower at 441,277 tons.
With the addition of the December figures, total coking coal imports in the first nine months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 dropped 20.21% year-on-year to 5,313,837 tons against 6,660,166 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).
Total imports of coking coal via the port in the previous financial year of 2014-15 amounted to 9,097,177 tons.

In December 2015, imports comprised a volume of 777,616 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 5,217 – Rs 6,238 ($76-93) per ton and the balance 59,529 tons from Mozambique at a price band of Rs 5,551 – 6,146 ($83-91) per ton.
November 2015 imports comprised a volume of 386,109 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 5,457 – Rs 6,739 ($86-101) per ton while the balance 40,000 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 5,690 – Rs 5,755 ($88) per ton.
