Paradip Port’s gypsum imports decline 35% in FY16

Gypsum imports through the port of Paradip were at 103,900 tons in March 2016 against 38,899 tons in February 2016, showing a month-on-month sharp spurt of more than 167%, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Overall, gypsum imports have shown a somewhat erratic trend this fiscal with no imports in August-September, 2015 while in July, these were at 56,400 tons. Volumes have swung in a wide range too over the last one year.
However, total volumes of the material in fiscal 2015-16 were at 632,241 tons against 970,622 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), declining 34.86% year-on-year.
Import volumes of the material in March 2015 were at 68,985 tons.

In March 2016, all consignments arrived from Oman at a price range of Rs 1,057 – Rs 1,104 ($16) per ton.
February 2016 saw all consignments arriving from Oman at a price range of Rs 1,206 – Rs 1,455 ($18-21) per ton.
