A volume of 51,617 tons of met coke was imported through Paradip Port in December 2015 against 20,694 tons recorded in November, showing a more than 149% month-on-month spurt, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2014, imports of met coke via the port were at 42,327 tons.
Total volumes of met coke imports in the first nine months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 446,401 tons against 567,908 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), declining 21.39% year-on-year.
Total met coke imports through the port during the previous financial year of 2014-15 were at 711,612 tons.

December 2015 saw all the consignments arriving from China at a price band of Rs 8,845 - Rs 10,550 ($133-157) per ton.
November 2015 saw 14,194 tons arriving from China at a unit price of Rs 9,529 ($143) per ton and the balance 6,500 tons from Colombia at a unit price of Rs 12,712 ($195) per ton.
