Paradip’s Mar coking coal imports surge 110% m-o-m

April 13: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip went up sharply by 109.94% to 785,837 tons in March 2015 against a volume of 374,315 tons reported in February 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in March 2014 stood at 436,226 tons.
Total imports of coking coal via the port in the financial year of 2014-15 rose 52.77% to 9,097,177 tons against 5,954,933 tons imported through the port during the same period in 2013-14.

In March 2015, a volume of 777,999 tons were imported from Australia in a range of Rs 2,903 – Rs 8,371 ($46-133) per ton while the balance 7,838 tons came in from the US at a price range of Rs 6,643 – Rs 6,665 ($106).
In February, 361,139 tons were imported from Australia in a range of Rs 6,856 – Rs 11,267 ($110-179) per ton and the balance 13,176 tons from the US at a unit price of Rs 8,388 ($134).
