Paradip’s Mar steam coal imports spurt 120% m-o-m

April 13: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip spurted by more than 120% to 1,047,478 tons in March 2015 against a volume of 475,566 tons in February 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in March 2015 stood higher at 318,344 tons.
In the first 12 months of financial year 2014-15, steam coal imports through the port stood 32% higher at 9,118,213 tons against 6,907,374 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.

In March, imports consisted of 887,522 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 2,061 – Rs 5,997 ($33-95) per ton and 159,956 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 3,926 – Rs 4,209 ($63-67) per ton.
In February, however, imports consisted of 368,640 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 2,269 – Rs 5,361 ($36-86) per ton, 35,696 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 2,020 – Rs 5,118 ($32-82) per ton, 51,230 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 2,555 ($41) and 20,000 tons from Saudi Arabia at a unit price of Rs 5,106 ($82).
