December 11: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip dropped a moderate 48.58% to 426,109 tons in November 2015 against 828,751 tons reported in the preceding month of October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in November 2014 stood slightly higher at 501,683 tons.
With the addition of the November figures, total coking coal imports in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 dropped 23.72% to 4,743,967 tons against 6,218,889 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).
Total imports of coking coal via the port in the previous financial year of 2014-15 amounted to 9,097,177 tons.

November 2015 imports comprised a volume of 386,109 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 5,457 – Rs 6,739 ($86-101) per ton while the balance 40,000 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 5,690 – Rs 5,755 ($88) per ton.
In October 2015, imports comprised a volume of 777,616 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 5,366 – Rs 6,762 ($93-114) per ton, 17,000 tons from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 5,757 ($87) per ton and the balance 34,135 tons from New Zealand in a price band of Rs 6,696 – 6,615 ($101).
