December 11: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip went down a moderate 34.39% month-on-month to 406,916 tons in November 2015 against a volume of 620,226 tons in October 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in November 2015 had stood higher at 760,333 tons.
With the November figures, total steam coal imports in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 have dropped 25.35% to 4,484,349 tons against a volume of 6,007,527 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15). Total steam coal imports in the previous fiscal amounted to 9,118,213 tons.

In November 2015, imports comprised 152,848 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 2,295 – Rs 5,049 ($35-77) per ton, and the balance 254,067 tons from South Africa at a price band of Rs 3,699 – 4,988 ($55-76) per ton.
October 2015 imports comprised 461,630 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 1,809 – Rs 9,889 ($28-149) per ton, and the balance 158,596 tons from South Africa at a price band of Rs 2,965 – 5,317 ($44-79) per ton.
