November 13: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip went up a sharp 77.29% to 620,226 tons in October 2015 against a volume of 349,831 tons in September 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in October 2015 had stood higher at 926,431 tons.
With the October figures, total steam coal imports in the first seven months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 4,077,433 tons against a volume of 5,247,194 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15). Total steam coal imports in the previous fiscal amounted to 9,118,213 tons.

October 2015 imports comprised 461,630 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 1,809 – Rs 9,889 ($28-149) per ton, and the balance 158,596 tons from South Africa at a price band of Rs 2,965 – 5,317 ($44-79) per ton.
In September 2015, imports comprised 139,919 tons from Indonesia in a band of Rs 3,558 – Rs 3,687 ($53-55) per ton, and the balance 209,912 tons from South Africa at a price band of Rs 3,699 – 4,988 ($55-76) per ton.
