New UserParadip’s pet coke imports surge 288% y-o-y in FY16

Pet coke imports through Paradip Port in March 2016 were at 121,194 tons while the preceding month of February 2016 saw 47,252 tons of the commodity coming in, showing a sharp spurt of more than 156% month-on-month, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Total volumes of pet coke imports in fiscal 2015-16 were at 398,921 tons against 102,745 tons recorded in the previous fiscal (2014-15), surging more than 288% year-on-year.
In March 2015, imports of pet coke via the port were nil.

In March 2016, a volume of 89,185 tons arrived from Saudi Arabia at a price range of Rs 2469 – Rs 2,725 ($36-40) per ton and 32,009 tons from the US at a price band of Rs 3059 – Rs 5,602 ($45-82) per ton.
In February 2016, a volume of 12,252 tons arrived from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 12,252 ($177) and 35,000 tons from Saudi Arabia at a unit price of Rs 2,646 ($39).
