Pet coke despatches from Indian refineries may rise from July

May 16: With major refineries like Reliance Industries Ltd and Essar Oil Ltd having already taken maintenance shutdown in April 2014, the overall despatches of pet coke are expected to rise from July, industry sources said.

"The despatches would have risen from June itself, but for the expected monsoon that might cause some problem. However, with a new government led by the BJP coming to power with absolute majority after the results on May 16, the overall economic situation is likely to improve and that might lead to higher demand for cement and consequently for pet coke," they said.

"The despatches had fallen sharply in April as RIL and Essar, the two major refiners, had gone for maintenance shutdown," they added.
