Pet coke exports via Chennai flat m-o-m in August

September 17: Calcined petroleum coke exports through Chennai port were flat at a mere 2 tons in August 2013, the same volumes as recorded in July2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

As in July, in August too, this small consignment was headed for Oman at a unit price of Rs 31,947 against the July price of Rs 33,215 per ton.

Coal handling at Chennai port has been suspended since October last year following a ban imposed by the Madras High Court on handling of dirty cargo of coal and iron ore at the port with effect from October 1, 2011.

The court order came following the hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL). However, old stocks are getting cleared at the port.
