Pet coke imports via Kolkata surge 260% in Aug m-o-m

September 25: Pet coke imports via Kolkata Port surged by over 260% to 38,106 tons in August 2014 against 10,568 tons in July 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in August 2013 were at a mere 191 tons.
Imports of the material for the first five months of the current fiscal were at 90,415 tons against 9,898 tons reported for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total pet coke imports via Kolkata Port for the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 50,149 tons.
Following is the break-up of month-wise import of pet coke via Kolkata Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In August, 27,601 tons arrived from Kuwait at a unit price of Rs 13,549 ($223) while the balance 10,505 tons arrived from China in a range of Rs 18,886 – Rs 50,578 ($305-833) per ton.
In July, imports comprised consignments from China in a range of Rs 10,266 – Rs 50,578 ($171-833) per ton.
